Juanita Peters, New Registrant
My journey to becoming a midwife began many years ago with the births of my own children. I realized then how the experiences of a woman at this time could have a profound impact on how she feels as a person and a mother. Supporting women and their families became my passion.
While raising my family, I co-owned a small business centred on pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding. For over 10 years, I worked as a childbirth educator and birth doula. My volunteer work over the years has also been reflective of my passion for supporting women and their loved ones. I had the privilege of serving at risk youth in Hamilton through prenatal classes and mentoring at The Living Rock ministries. I was also involved in the development and implementation of a high school curriculum focused on decision making around relationships, intimacy, sex, and crisis pregnancy.
From there I began my education to become a Registered Midwife at McMaster University.
It is my honour and privilege to serve people through this incredible journey of pregnancy, birth and parenting, and it is my desire to incorporate a sense of awe and respect into your care.
“If we hope to create a non-violent world where respect and kindness replace fear and hatred, we must begin with how we treat each other at the beginning of life. For that is where we our deepest patterns are set. From these roots grow fear and alienation – or love and trust.”
