Lauren Columbus, General Registrant
Lauren graduated with honours from the francophone stream of the Midwifery Education Program at Laurentian University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree, and began her career with Access Midwives. Prior to midwifery, Lauren completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology from McGill University, during which time she was exposed to midwifery on an overseas placement in Nepal. Since then, she has volunteered in maternity wards in Somaliland and Tanzania and has a great interest in global maternal and infant health. Lauren loves to teach, and as a clinical preceptor she most often has a midwifery student assigned to her team. She lives in downtown Hamilton with her husband and two young children, also both born into the hands of midwives, and feels honoured to be part of the pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey of so many wonderful Hamilton-area families.
