"Where to begin, my experience from pregnancy to postpartum was everything I ever wanted for my second pregnancy, after a somewhat traumatic first. I had the pleasure of being supported by the Pink team: Elise, Amanda, Madeleine and student Hania and wow what an incredible, kind, knowledgeable and supportive group of women! I appreciated being able to meet with each midwife multiple times throughout my prenatal appointments. Despite how busy everyone was, I never felt rushed during my appointments and always felt supported and informed. We were fortunate to have such a variety of members in our care team - originally we had three midwives, one of which went on her own maternity leave so was replaced by another, we met another midwife during labour who assisted, and postpartum we met a couple more who covered our team while they went to deliver more babies! Not to mention the lovely ladies at the front desk of the clinic who always met us with the brightest smiles and positive attitudes. Tamara Youngberg, whom we were incredibly happy and lucky to have, was the midwife on our team who delivered our baby. She advocated for us and ensured we were well taken care of in hospital. Her confidence, humour, and knowledge of all things surrounding prenatal, labour, delivery and postpartum made us feel calm and capable throughout the entire process. The learning curve of parenthood is beyond challenging but the convenience of having multiple avenues of contact with our team made our lives significantly easier when looking for answers and supports. At one point, our baby was experiencing some trouble where we required more attention, and we were consistently met with such assistance. Our team was prompt and provided us great solutions resulting in a quick recovery. Overall, the staff at Access Midwives are extremely knowledgeable and compassionate, we felt very well taken care of under their care and look forward to having them deliver more of our babies! "I am a FTM and I am so grateful for Access midwives, specially my Orange Team - Kristen, Jess and Beth and the wonderful role they played in bringing my baby boy in this world! They are such amazing and powerful ladies.My pregnancy, delivery and postpartum journey has been nothing but amazing and so eventful. Wanted to share all the details so hang tight 😄 I would start with thanking the front desk ladies. Both the ladies were so efficient, friendly, polite and amazing. Each time I had entered their clinic they have always welcomed me (and everyone else) with a warm smile. Efficient in check-in and check-out process and the clarity with which they provide instructions for appointments were really appreciated by me and my husband! My prenatal journey was pretty straightforward. Appointments were thorough, with ample time to discuss topics relevant to each stage of pregnancy. Throughout the 40 weeks I got to meet all 3 midwives multiple times which gave me ease and confidence to work with them unlike in a hospital. My Orange team provided continuous guidance and resources which was really helpful. My labor and delivery journey was far more eventful than my entire pregnancy. Jess was kind enough to come see me when my labor started at my house, this saved us from that extra drive or unnecessary nervousness that would come from rushing to hospital and coming back specially for me cause this was my first time. The challenge was I wouldn't dilate beyond the halfway mark and my baby decided to release meconium. We noticed it when my water broke. This is where my team played an important role, where even though we had to deviate from my birth preference, there wasn't even a minute where I felt uninformed or being rushed into anything. The next steps were always discussed with me and my consent was taken before changing the course. This was so crucial for me and my labor and delivery journey. The calmness, guidance and support that I got from Jess during the process was incredible and I have so much love for her. Thank you Jess! Huge Respect! For my postpartum journey, Kristen (she was my life savior and my favorite) went the extra mile to help us with everything that we needed and we are so grateful for her care and support. She patiently without any judgement guided me through the process of breastfeeding - which is a fulfilling but challenging task in those initial days. Kristen's care, professionalism, friendliness and passion for the job absolutely made my experience as a new mother so much easier. I would wait each day for her visit during the recovery because just seeing her always brought a smile and some ease to me. Thank you and Love you Kristen! Huge Respect! My home visits were all so smooth and Beth visited us twice even while she was supporting other births. She gave us the good news we wanted, where my baby was back to his original birth weight within the initial few days and recovered from his Jaundice. Thank you so much Beth and huge respect for your professionalism! I will have to say goodbye to my team soon, and it breaks my heart just thinking about that. But they have made me so confident that I know I can embark on this journey with all the knowledge and wisdom they have shared with me.I don't think I could have done what I did to give birth to my baby boy without my Orange Team! I love them so much and I will ever be so grateful. I never thought I will say this - but I do want more children now that I have one and my experience has been so positive with Access Midwives that I can't imagine being on the 2nd pregnancy journey without them. "A wonderful group of women! Genevieve, Connie and Lynlee were professional, informative and supportive every step of the way. I had an unplanned c section with my first and a homebirth with my second. They supported my choices and empowered my decision making. Their post partem care is top notch, and you simply can't beat the convience and comfort of in home visits after birth. Although my c section was not ideal, I still felt my midwives cared deeply about me and my baby during the whole experience and hospital stay. My homebirth was redemptive, and empowering thanks to the unwavering support from my midwives. My babies are healthy and happy thanks to this team. "Today was my final day with Access Midwives. 2nd child. First one was with an OB at St. Joe's and Holy heck was it a different experience! I loved my midwives so much. They're so caring and comforting, they give you time to chat and they answer all questions and concerns thoroughly. I was with the yellow team and they were wonderful. Unfortunately, I accidentally gave birth at home so I didn't get to experience that with them but from pregnancy to postpartum care, I couldn't be happier. "I cannot recommend Access Midwives enough! I am a FTM and I was with team pink and they were all incredible. Had I not been with midwives my pregnancy would have likely ended in a c section because of some last minute complications but my midwives took precautions and used techniques to make it possible to deliver naturally. I never felt rushed in any of my visits and the home visits after baby were so nice, not just because I didn’t have to leave my house but it was also nice to talk to them and ask questions. Having Katie do most of my home visits was so helpful as she is also a mom, she shared a lot of lived experiences with me and always gave me a lot of her time and guidance. Delivering at McMaster was great, the midwife unit is clean and pretty spacious. I was put into a shared room after delivering (hospital was full) which was quite noisy but the midwives worked together to sort out that my tests be done at home so that I could leave early and get some much needed rest. I cried after saying goodbye to my team because they had such a big impact on mine and my daughters life!"

"My experience with Access Midwives’s Team Blue was amazing. I had never thought of giving birth without epidural. It was long labor and if not for my midwives I surely would have went for epidural. But somehow Connie’s support made me pass half of the day and then Genevieve encouraged and supported me during the delivery. Though labor was most painful experience, now I remember that day as my most beautiful memory. Even postpartum my baby had difficulty latching but midwives support you like a lactation consultant. You can page 24x7 and get response within 15 minutes. Most importantly that your midwife can come visit you at your home if needed. Do want to mention wonderful receptionists too!"

I had a lot of trauma with my first pregnancy and I was under the care of an OB. The second time around I knew midwives were the right choice. I decided to go with a midwife ultimately because they come to your home after you deliver, which makes things easier. "Just here to leave a quick THANK YOU! Our perfect little angel is turning 4 months as of today… Our experience with access midwives (purple team) was absolutely phenomenal! Tamara,Erin, Simone and Nicole were amazing. Couldn’t have wished for a better team. We felt safe and genuinely cared for at all times. The Second I met every single one of them I knew it’s gonna be great and everything is gonna be okay! We were really excited and looking forward to have our little one at home. Well, he had other plans in mind and decided to surprise us in wanting to get out of there feet first… 😉 We had to quickly change plans, needed an ambulance,rush to the hospital and he was delivered by emergency c-section. Now that sounds pretty scary and traumatic. But I can tell everyone who reads this review, thanks to Tamara and Nicole IT WASNT!!! They’ve done an excellent job keeping everyone (daddy included) safe and calm. I am proud to say that even with the little twist at the end it was just PERFECT for us! It just shows that you can plan as much as you want but at the end of the day the little ones might have other plans. which isn’t a problem with the right support of your midwife!!! Letting go of plans and adapting to new challenges that day was actually the most empowering feeling I’ve ever felt. All that is left to say is THANK YOU to every single one of you! "Thank you to the wonderful staff at Access Midwives; Jamie, Barbara and Sue for all of your help over the phone and in clinic. And of course thank you immensely to the awesome team of midwives we had as part of our journey for the second time! I was a patient at Access Midwives from 2018-2019 and 2020-2021 with the same team of midwives (Tamara, Simone, Erin and a student) for both of my pregnancies. From early pregnancy to 6 weeks postpartum, their attention to detail and always addressing my concerns and questions was great! During the pandemic, I felt very safe as they always followed protocols, ensured PPE was worn and sanitizing took place. Although my two birth stories were very different (first at 36w + 3d and second at 40w + 3d), the care I received throughout was incredible both times! The aftercare in home visits were very much appreciated, especially when you’re exhausted with a newborn and not up for leaving the house. Being in the care of a midwife allowed me to feel very comfortable and confident that my concerns (as a first or second time mom) would always be addressed. Each midwife took the time to get to know me (and my husband pre pandemic) and all of my visits were as thorough as I needed. I never felt like just another patient. My husband and I wouldn’t have it any other way and would recommend midwives to anyone, especially Access Midwives to anyone in the area!"

They also provided so much support given the fact that being pregnant during a pandemic was exceptionally stressful. My delivery had to switch to OB care while in the hospital due to some risk factors, but Tamara still attended my daughter’s delivery and really helped direct my pushing so that I delivered her fast and efficiently. In addition our postpartum care was phenomenal. Having the midwives to answer all questions and concerns and such hands on care felt such a blessing. At my last appointment I was particularly impressed that Simone took time to discuss the risks of postpartum depression, particularly for new moms during the pandemic. It gave me the opportunity to have discussions with my family to make sure I had the right support in place. I 10/10 believe I picked the best care providers and feel so lucky I had such a great team with my first pregnancy."
