I had an amazing experience with all 3 of my midwives! Susannah was the one to deliver my son and she was amazing! My labor was extremely fast my water broke and my son was born 3 hours later. I moved over an hour away from the hospital and when I called her on my way to McMaster she stayed on the phone with me for a long time and kept me very calm. By the time I got to the hospital he was born an hour later so I had no time for an epidural or morphine or Demerol or anything. It was extremely painful but she kept me as calm as possible. She did massage things to my back to try to help with the contractions as well as prepared a hot shower for me and she stayed by my side the entire time. She listened to all of my concerns and my wants. I told her ahead of time I wanted to “catch” the baby myself and she didn’t forget and told everyone in the room to make sure everyone knew (midwife, nurse and a student). It was also only 3 minutes of pushing and she did amazing with me through that as well. Anyone that has her for delivery is lucky! She also followed up with me and had all my discharge stuff ready long before discharge and she even called the nurses to get me discharged since the nurses kept me longer than I should have been. I had a great experience because of her!
