Megan Platts, Blue Team

When I became pregnant for the first time I knew I wanted midwifery care. I loved the client-centred focus and the belief in birth as a normal physiological process. After the birth of my second baby, I started thinking about how I could alter my career path to include work with women’s health and began looking at policy and advocacy positions. Eventually I came to realize that what I really wanted to do was be hands on, empowering expectant parents to be informed and active participants in their care. Following the birth of my third baby, I decided to make the leap go back to school.

Before becoming a midwife, I worked in government relations and advocacy. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, taming my garden, fixing up my old house and making things. I’ve spent my entire adult life in Hamilton, and my family and I happily call the North End home.

I feel privileged to be joining Access Midwives and providing care in my adopted home town.
