When I think about having another baby there are two things that make me want to consider it: the absolute cuteness of my baby boy and the opportunity to be cared for by The Purple Team again.
Before I was even pregnant I began researching midwives in the area and as a Black woman finding a Black midwife was very important to me. When I found Simone’s smiling face on the Access Midwives website I was overjoyed! With my first child I had an OB and wanted a different experience this time around. I’m so glad I made that decision for myself and my family!
What I was looking forward to most was the postpartum in-home visits but I truly didn’t know ALL of the benefits I would end up receiving throughout the process.
Tamara was an absolute gem and made me look forward to my clinic visits each time. She truly cares about her clients and that was very evident, she made me feel instantly at ease. I shared many laughs with Tamara and smile when I think back to our appointments.
My home birth did not go as planned unfortunately but I’m glad I had Simone by my side during labour at the hospital. We sang along to my playlist and made the best of a tough situation. Even after my care had to be transferred over to the hospital staff, Simone was by my side and supporting me every step of the way.
Erin did most of my postpartum visits and showed so much care for myself and my newborn son. I will never forget that and am truly grateful.
